COLORADO OHV PERMIT REQUIRED! How do you obtain a non-resident permit? Several license agents will sell the non-resident off-highway vehicle permits. To find the nearest license agent, please contact the Colorado State Parks Registration Unit at 303-791-1920. The permits are valid for one year or until the following March 31, whichever comes first. The cost of an off-highway vehicle permit is $15.25. Timber Ridge (Private Member Area), Castana, Ia (Travel Time 1:30, 82 Miles) 712-353-6600, POC=Richard, Take I-29 North to Onawa Exit, proceed to Onawa then onto Turin and Castana. At Castana turn left at L20 just as you enter town. Follow L20 until Peach(gravel Road to right, then go ~3 miles and turn at Timber Ridge sign (near the sawmill). Fee area $???.00 per year. This site has 2000-3000 acres with a reserved camping location for your exclusive use. Miles of trails open to OHV use, 9 fishing ponds etc. Very family oriented area that allows NO racing, or speeding especially in developed camping areas. No riding after rains until dry.
Coraville Lake, Iowa City, IA (Travel Time 4:38, 261 Miles) 319-338-3543 - POC=Randy, Go West from Solan on 382 until you get to Ely Road, go north to 140th street turn left on gravel road to unlaod area. Area MAP. No Fee, No Regs but general safety. Day use only, all types of ORVs allowed. 165 Acers of varied terrian, hills, trees, flats. Do not cross roads from parking area, gaurd rails or creeks, lake shore is another boundry. Lake McBride State Park has camping ~ 5 miles South. 319-644-2200.

Tuttle Creek (Travel Time 4:02, 167 Miles) 785-539-8511 The Tuttle Creek ORV Area is located 2 miles southeast of Randolph, Kansas with access off Riley County Road 893 to Secrest Road, then 1 ½ miles east (Area Map). This 310-acre park is open to all motorized and non-motorized vehicles. Miles of trails with steep climbs, sharp turns, and rugged terrain await the off-road enthusiast.We urge you to tread lightly; please refrain from using the area when the ground is soft and muddy. Riding on wet trails greatly hastens their erosion and eventual demise. Also, do not ride up and down the creek beds. They are not trails.The nearest campground is Fancy Creek State Park four miles north or Stockdale Park 8 miles South, 12 sites elec/shwrs @10.00 open mid April.

Spillway Cycle Area The Spillway Cycle Area adjoins the spillway just below the east end of Tuttle Creek Dam, with access off of Dyer Road. The park is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. year-round. The Cycle Area comprises 90 acres of open and wooded terrain adjacent to the spillway. Several miles of trails have been developed, ranging from level stretches to challenging hill climbs. Vault toilets, picnic tables, and a loading ramp are available adjacent to the entrance parking lot.The area is open to bicycles and to all 2-, 3-, and 4-wheeled motorized vehicles WITH A WHEELBASE UNDER 66 INCHES. This measurement is taken from the center of each axle. To assist you in determining if your ORV or ATV meets the wheel base limit, pavement markings set 66 inches apart have been placed near the vault toilets. This wheel base restriction will be strictly enforced for the safety of the cyclists. Dune buggies, four-wheel drive vehicles and other machines with a wheel base greater than 66 inches are welcome to use the Tuttle Creek ORV Area near Randolph. The cycle area map posted at the parking lot identifies the boundaries where authorized vehicles may be operated. These boundaries have been established to help ensure users’ safety. Do not cross Dyer Road, the black topped road on the east side of the cycle area. Likewise, do not enter the bottomland south of the old road on the south side of the cycle area. Signs have been erected to assist you in determining these boundaries. Please observe them. Cars and trucks are restricted to the paved entrance road and parking areas. All motorized vehicles must be effectively muffled. Help minimize trail proliferation, compaction and erosion by remaining on established trails, and avoid riding when the trails are muddy. Always tread lightly.

Milford Lake (Travel Time 4:27, 200 Miles) 785-238-5714 Directions to the area: from Junction City go 2 miles NW on KS 57 Hwy. then go 4 miles W on KS 244 Hwy.; then 8 miles N on County Road 837; turn E onto Luttman Road and follow it. Luttman Road dead ends at the ORV staging/parking lot. (Lake Map) The School Creek ORV area consists of approximately 287 acres. It is restricted to vehicles that are 50 inches wide or less. Full size 4-wheel drive vehicles and dune buggies are not allowed to operate on the trails. Kansas State safety regulations are in effect in the area, which includes mandatory eyewear for all operators and mandatory helmets for juveniles. ORV vehicles that are not licensed for the highway cannot be operated on roadways outside of the riding area. The primitive park is free of charge and has a staging/parking lot area. Trails can be accessed from the east or west sides of the parking lot. The shoreline of the lake is also available with ATVs. A vault toilet and refuse dumpster is provided at the parking lot. Since the park area has limited maintenance, it’s up to all of the users of the area to help keep the litter picked up and to follow the rules. Primative camping is available East of the Parking lot towards the cove for Free, no facilites. Tent camping with water is available at School Creeek campground to the North @$6.00. RV/elec shwr etc sites are available at Wakefield @$14.00 wich is 8 miles North beginning in mid April.
Perry Lake, Topeka KS - (Travel Time 4:09, 189 Miles) 785-597-5144 Located ~10 miles NE of Topeka. Free, general safety regulations, area 240+ acres of Hilly wooded terrain below the Perry Dam Area MAP. All levels of riders, open daily from sunrise to sunset. No facilities on site, nearest camping is Slough Creek opens April 16th, 250 units, RV/elec @$14.00, basic @$8.00 resevations call - 877-444-6777.

Chadwick ORV Area, Chadwick, MO - near Springfield (Travel Time 8:20, 428 Miles) 417-683-4428 Hours: all day all night! must have operating lights for night riding. Cost: $5.00 per bike per day. Directions - u.s 65 s. to mo-14 e. about 15 miles to 125 highway 125 s. to Chadwick. pay riding fee at convenience store in chadwick. then to s. side of town to "h" hiway about 2 miles to riding area. Description - the area is in the mark twain national forest, the Ozarks of Missouri consisting of over 100 miles of trails. There are some easy riding ones but can turn difficult before you realize! there is not running water at the riding area??, bring plenty!!! also no trash pick and is rarely patrolled, you are out in the woods. campground is nice but a small fee is charged at the campground,$5.00 , primative camping only, ATVs are allowed in campground.
Sutton Bluff, Centerville, Mo. (Travel Time 9:45, 497 Miles) Contact - Salem Ranger Dist. (573) 729-6656 Directions - Just north of Centerville, MO off Hwy.72, or N.37.29 W.091.01 for you GPS types. Get permit (Cost - $5 Daily - $30 Annual) and map at Quick Stop in Centerville. Description - 20 miles (12 different marked trails and lots of forest roads) for a fair amount of riding. In scenic hill and forest area.Sutton Bluff and Black River. Campground is nice but primative $8.00/day, water only. No ATVs in campground central to all trails but weekends are busy.
Finger Lakes, Columbia, Mo (Travel Time 5:41, 329 Miles) 573-443-5315???, Located 6 miles north of Columbia, off U.S. 63 in Boone County. Trailhead: Take Columbia exit (Moberly 63 exit) off of I-70, head Hwy. 63 north. Go about 6 miles, and start looking for the signs. Cost - $2.00 per day per person (permits availbale at office 8-5 daily), Helmets required, no flags, under 18 must have adult supervision, hours - Summer: 8:00A.M. to Dusk, Winter: 8:00A.M. to 5:00P.M. 85 miles of trails / all skill levels / varying terrain Trail Riding, swimming, boating, fishing. Camping 17 RV/Elec @$12.00/day, 18 primative @$6.00/day, nice bathhouse with showers and warm water (After April 1st)! Description - The area is an old strip pit area. There are 9 little ponds (lakes) everywhere with fishing in most (bass, catfish, bluegill). The trails aren't maintained, since you can't tear them up any worse than they already are. There is a moto-cross track also there, also several hare scrambles are held there too. All kinds of ridable terrain for all levels of riders.
Cooper Creek Off Road Vehicle Area / Deepwater (Harry S. Truman Dam), (Travel Time 5:28, 279 Miles) 75 Miles SE of Kansas City, 660-438-7317 Located south of Clinton, Missouri near the town of Deepwater, Coming from Clinton you crossthe second bridge on 13 hwy (which is Truman Lake--Deepwater Arm) and take a left at the light. There is a sign that says: "Deepwater Riding Area". (plus you can see the area from the road)is designated for off road vehicle use including dirt bikes, all terrain vehicles, and dune buggies. Cooper Creek is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is the only place on the Truman project that off road vehicles are allowed. Cooper Creek Park covers approximately 400 acres of hills, trails, and open areas and is divided into a north and a south riding area. The north area contains a large parking area, restroom and is 90 acres in size. The south area also has a parking area and restroom but is much larger with over 300 acres containing more intricate trails. Use of the area is free. The riding area’sboundaries are either fenced or signed. Riders should make every effort to stay within the riding areas. The City of Deepwater manages a boat ramp located between the north and south riding areas. The road leading to the boat ramp is not for use by unlicensed vehicles and is posted as such. When using Cooper Creek, please keep safety of you and others using the area in mind. Camping is available at Starrout Park 2 miles North RV/elec @$14.00 and tent @$8.00.
St. Joe State Park, Park Hills, Mo. (Travel Time 9:07, 496 Miles) (formerly Flat River) 573-431-1069 Located ~50 Miles South of St. Louis MO. Take HWY 67 South to the HWY 32 / Park Hills Exit, turn right off of ramp. Go 3.5 miles on HWY 32 until you see St. Joe State Park signs on the left. Cost - $2.00 per ORV, no double riding, helmits and flags required. Camping on-site available and accessable with ATVs 15 RV/elec @$12.00, 35 basic @ $6.00. Description - Over 2,000 acres of flats, trails, woods, and berms consisting mostly of mine tailings. Not very crowded. Places for beginners, novices, and experts.

Nebraska:

Nebraska currently has no ATV registration and/or title requirements. Be sure to keep your MSO and Bill of Sale for your ATV as you may want to register it in an another state and you will need these documents. ATV enthuesistes in Eastern Nebraska often register/title there ATVs in Iowa to take advantage of the public OHV parks in Iowa.

Nebraska Off-Highway Vehicle Association - Club that manages the HeadWorks ATV area and represents our intrests with The National Forest Service and other Government agencies to protect our rights to ride. They also sponsor ATV events and search for new places to ride.

HeadWorks Park, Genoa/Columbus Ne (Travel Time 2:10, 105 Miles), Operated by NOHVA, this is an 1600+ acre area that is comprized of sand hills and snady areas along the Loop River. There are side trails into the wooded areas that provide hill climbs and trail riding. There are large areas of open sand with small hills to jump etc. This is an ATV/Dirtbike only area sponsered by Loop Public Power District and managed for ATV use by NOHVA. The area is closed several time a year for maintenance so joining NOHVA will provide you access to the facilty closure times, and also supports the continued use of the area. Some limited camping is available: some units with electricity, primitive camping is also available behind the loading zone and in the riding area along the river. Join NOHVA to gain more information and access to this premire riding area in nebraska.
Nebraska National Forest, Halsey, Ne (Travel Time 6:14, 280 Miles) Location: From Halsey, NE, take State Rt. 2 west 1.1 miles to Nebraska Recreation Area sign (State Rt. 86 Spur). Turn left onto Rt. 86 Spur and go 0.2 miles to campground entrance. There are no restrictions to the types of vehicles brought into the campground. Tent @ $8.00/day RV/elec @ $11.00/day, 32 Units, Water, Flush toilets, Electricity on some, Open All Year, Campground is a adjacent to Middle Loup River. Campground is composed of three loops - Hardwood, Cedar and River and is next to the largest tree farm in the western hemisphere. Nebraska National Forest is the only man-made National Forest in the United States. Forest provides unlimited access to ATVs, ORVs, motorcycles and 4WD vehicles. The campground is not just simply a recreation area but a recreation complex with tubbing, tennis (wire nets), basketball, horseshoe pits, swimming pool (only one in the National Forest Service) and ball playing field with backstop. Interpretive program is provided every Friday and Saturday, Memorial Day through Labor Day. Drive or hike to the Lookout Tower. There, one has a wonderful panoramic view of Nebraska's sandhills and prairie. Harlan County Lake, Republican, Ne, BLM project - 308-799-2105, Located 5 Miles South of Republican, Ne on the South Side of Dam,. No Fee, General Saftey, Day Use area only, grassland and hilly terain, one main loop trail and the rest is open area riding, vault toilet on-site. Camping is located at Cedar Point ~1mile South, Free 30 tent sites with toilet available. RV/Elec camping avail at Patterson Harbor ~4 miles SouthWest, $10.00-$14.00 depending upon services.
