Quaker State 400

In-Season Challenge Round 3 • v2.0 Pre-Race Update
EchoPark Speedway, GA
Sunday, July 12, 2026
TV: TNT / truTV / HBO Max
STAGES: 60 / 160 / 260
PURSE: $11,055,250 (2025 Ref)
🚨 DRIVER CONFLICT ADVISORY: Zane Smith (#38) and Carson Hocevar (#77), and also SVG (#97) and Austin Hill (#33) will meet with NASCAR officials prior to Sunday's race. Why? Retaliatory contact at Chicagoland. So What? This high-speed drafting environment creates extreme risk for "accidental" payback that could trigger a 25-car "Big One."

Tech Section: 510 HP Superspeedway Package

Despite 2026's shift to 750 HP for most tracks, superspeedway rules remain restricted. Why? To govern top speeds within the 28-degree high-banked packs. So What? Engines run at ~510 HP with a 7-inch rear spoiler. This high-drag setup maximizes the aerodynamic wake, allowing for the massive "runs" required for slingshot passing.

Permanent A-Post Flap: Mandatory for 2026 across all track types. Why? To prevent vehicles from getting airborne during high-speed spins in the pack.

Goodyear Superspeedway Compound: Same setup as the spring Atlanta race. Why? Unique right-side tire (D-5268) is required for the abrasive, high-load concrete surface. So What? Summer heat (86°F) will accelerate falloff; crew chiefs will use short-pit strategies to avoid being caught on old rubber during a green-flag pit cycle.

$1 Million In-Season Challenge: Round 3 Bracket

Matchup of the Week: Denny Hamlin vs. Christopher Bell. So What? Hamlin has historically struggled in the Next-Gen superspeedway package (avg 5 top-10s in 27 starts), while Bell won here in 2025. This JGR internal battle could eliminate the points leader from the million-dollar hunt.

Cinderella Story: No. 25 Todd Gilliland vs. No. 32 Alex Bowman. So What? Bowman is the favorite due to his Daytona 500 front-row speed, but Gilliland has used a "survive and advance" strategy to move forward.
